Travel health kit essentials

A short, sensible packing list from our pharmacists, the things people most often wish they had taken.

Start with the basics: oral rehydration sachets, simple painkillers, antihistamines, plasters and a small antiseptic. These cover the majority of holiday niggles.

Add a high-factor sunscreen, insect repellent containing DEET where appropriate, and any regular medicines in their original packaging with a copy of your prescription.

If you are travelling somewhere remote, ask us about traveller's diarrhoea treatment and whether a standby antibiotic is appropriate for your trip.
